How much does AI transcription cost per hour?+
On the Starter plan (USD 9.99/month for 1,200 minutes) an hour of audio works out to about 50 cents. On Premium (29.99 for 2,000 minutes) it is roughly 90 cents an hour, and on Pro (49.99 for 3,500 minutes) about 86 cents. There are no separate per-minute charges on top of the plan price.
Is there a cheaper option for students?+
There is no separate student rate, because we cannot verify student status reliably. Instead the free plan gives every student 120 minutes of transcription each month at no cost, with AI notes, flashcards, quizzes and summaries on their first transcript, and Starter is the lowest paid tier for study material on every transcript.
Do I pay extra for AI notes, flashcards or quizzes?+
No. Every paid plan includes the AI features within its monthly limits, and the free plan includes them on your first transcript so you can try the full study kit. You pay for minutes and usage allowances, not for individual features.
How does the price compare to human transcription?+
Professional human transcription is typically billed per audio minute, so a one-hour recording costs far more than a full month of a TranscriptAI plan. AI transcription trades a small amount of accuracy on difficult audio for a flat monthly cost.
What do I pay if I go over my monthly minutes?+
Nothing automatically. You are never charged overage fees. You can buy a one-off minutes add-on, upgrade your plan, or wait for the monthly reset.
